On October 16, 2024, Fundación Wiese and the National Institute of Neoplastic Diseases (INEN) signed an important interinstitutional cooperation agreement for the benefit of cancer patients in the country. The event was attended by prominent representatives from both institutions, including Mr. Gonzalo De la Puente, member of Fundación Wiese Board, and Dr. Francisco Berrospi Espinoza, Interinstitutional Head of INEN. Other INEN officials present included Dr. Adela Heredia, Deputy Institutional Head, and Dr. Yura Toledo, Director of General Diagnostic and Treatment Support Services, among others.
An agreement in favor of patient autonomy and quality of life
The signed agreement aims to improve the quality of life for cancer patients by donating upper-limb prostheses, either mechanical or myoelectric. These prostheses will be exclusively provided to INEN patients, with the goal of restoring their autonomy and facilitating their integration into daily life.
Gonzalo De la Puente Wiese, on behalf of Fundación Wiese, expressed his satisfaction with the signing of the agreement:
“We hope to continue collaborating with INEN in future opportunities, including initiatives in Ascope. We are very happy to continue a working relationship that contributes to improving the autonomy and quality of life of cancer patients.”
For his part, Dr. Francisco Berrospi Espinoza of INEN highlighted the importance of this agreement for their patients:
“This agreement marks the beginning of a very significant collaboration for us and our patients. We appreciate their support and hope that this is the first of many joint initiatives, both in Lima and in other regions of the country.”
